Art Use Policy

Art Use Policy
I'm aware that it is difficult to enforce these policies. I'm outlining these as part of a Good Neighbor policy - I'll give you and your artwork the same respect that you show me. Additionally, "artwork" and "work" cover all images and literature posted on this DeviantArt account.

You May...

1) Use my character designs/colorations for your own characters, provided they are not characters at the Vale, and provided you don't claim the colors exclusively as your idea and/or bar others from doing the same. I certainly don't demand credit, but if you base a character's colors on one of mine, a link back would be really nice!

2) Link to my artwork on DeviantArt

3) Save my artwork to your computer for your own private use as a desktop etc.

4) Print my artwork for your own wall/door/desk/what-have-you. Private noncommercial use only.

5) Use any of my work as learning tools and references to draw from, though... heaven knows why you'd want to do that, my grasp of anatomy is nowhere near perfect.

6) Use any of my work as inspiration without asking my permission or giving me credit - though of course, a link back would be awesome!

7) Proportionately size my work down for space and size constraints if I've given you permission to post it elsewhere. **See Below**

8) Make a thumbnail image of my work for use in a gallery if I've given you permission to post it elsewhere. **See Below**

You May NOT...

1) Use any of my artwork in whole or in part for any publicly viewable derivative work without my WRITTEN CONSENT. This goes for commercial and noncommercial use, including but not limited to: desktop wallpapers available for download, icons, avatars, banners, collages, journal/blog themes, myspace skins, youtube videos, and manipulations. Do NOT assume that just because I know you, this gives you carte blanche to use my art.

2) Post my artwork on any website/gallery/forum/etc. and claim it as yours.

3) Post my artwork on any website/gallery/forum/etc. without my WRITTEN CONSENT, even if you give me credit.

4) Place text of your own or additional graphics on my artwork if I've given you permission to post it.

5) Recolor my artwork and post on any website/gallery/forum/etc. as your character's reference image, even if you give me credit.

6) Trace my artwork and post on any website/gallery/forum/etc. as your own work.

Art Trades, Commissions and Gift Art
Art trades, commissions and gift art will probably feature the characters of other individuals. If you've paid me for a piece of art either in cash or in trade, you have the right to use the artwork for both commercial and noncommercial purposes. If you received artwork from me as a gift, it's still yours, but I would like to ask you not to put it to any commercial use.

With the exception of the person who commissioned/traded for the artwork, commissioned pieces, art trades and gift art fall under MOST of my previously outlined art use policies. Characters featured in commissions/art trades/gift art that are not mine may not be used as character designs without the WRITTEN CONSENT of their creator.
